Code of Conduct for Junior members
(Track and Field meetings)


When competing for the club at Track and Field meetings. Please comply with the following Do's and Don'ts.

Do:

Ensure that you know what time you're event time is and listen to stadium announcements.

Ensure that you report for field events at least 15 minutes before the scheduled start time of your event.

The scheduled start time is when the event will begin (practice throws/jumps and registration must be completed by then)

Report to field events even if you are due to compete on the track.

Track events take priority, but please report to both.

At all times, follow the instructions of all Track and Field officials.

Be courteous, and thank the officials at the end of your event

Make sure your laces are tied before running.

Ensure your competition number is fastened in the correct position.

At the end of your event, wait until everyone has finished before leaving the competition area and it is good etiquette to shake hands with other competitors.

Enjoy your events, safely.

Support your team mates without being disrespectful to others, and remember to support from outside the track.

Don't

Enter the Track and field arena unless you are competing. Spectating and supporting must be done from outside the competition area.

Cross the infield to get to the other side, walk around the outside of the track.

Practice field events until event officials arrive.

Coach or instruct athletes that are competing.

Pace team mates by running beside them, even outside the track. Pacing leads to disqualification.

Walk back across the line whilst a race is finishing, and don't walk in front of the timekeepers.

Panic if you drop the baton in a relay, you can recover it (even go outside your lane) providing you don't impede other runners.

Throw down batons at the end of a relay. It must be handed to an official.
