Coaches Corner
Welcome to the Chesterfield and District Athletics Club coaches corner, where you can find information about our coaches and our coaching programme.
Our coaching staff are all volunteers and give up their spare time to help our athletes enjoy and improve themselves in athletics.
We are interested in your views and comments on coaching at Chesterfield and District AC whether you are a coach, parent or an athlete. If you have views on how you think we can improve then please contact me directly.
We are always on the lookout for additional coaches, so, If you, or someone you know is interested in coaching, then please give me a ring and we can discuss the various options available to you.
This part of our website is in its early stages, and over the coming months will see regular updates.

The Coaching Pathway
UK Athletics has a clear coaching pathway and the 5 level education programme, plus stand alone modules, is as follows.
Children in Athletics Qualifies
the coach to lead athletics type activities for children (8 – 13 years) with
“Fun in Athletics” soft play equipment under the guidance of Level 2 + coach (Min
age 14 years)
Fitness in Running and Walking Enables the coach to lead a group in running and walking activities (Min
age 16 years)
Level 1 is a basic introduction to athletics coaching and covers
the main disciplines of running, throwing and jumping, and allows coaches to
assist in the delivery of coaching sessions. (Min age 16 years)
Level 2 provides coaches with the competence and a more detailed
understanding of Sprints, endurance, throws, and jumps at club level, and
allows coaches to plan and deliver sessions. (Min age 18 years)
Level 3+4 focus is either on performance (supporting athletes to their highest level of performance) or development (ensuring that from their entry into athletics, athletes receive a high quality, athlete centred experience)
Level 5 is for the coach that will operate on the national/international stage.
Courses will be booked through ‘Alan Richardson’, the coach development officer for England Athletics, but please see Richard first as assistance may be available with the cost of any courses.
